Military payment certificates, or MPC, was a form of currency used to pay United States (US) military personnel in certain foreign countries in the mid and late twentieth century. In the year these were introduced 1968, the big innovation of this series was the introduction of the $20 bill. Most likely the reason for this note getting introduced was because of inflation.
